It's a Good Thing

I woke up this morning wanting to cook.
It's a lovely fall day, and I'm in a Suzy Home-Maker kind of mood.
So inasmuch as I had to stop at Walmart to pick up a prescription, I decided to brave the foodstuffs there. oooh boy...

OK so chicken and vegetable stew in the crockpot. And Martha Stewart roasted brussel sprouts cause it's that time of year. But the brussel sprouts are from Mexico. And I can't bring myself to buy Perdue chicken. I did, however, buy a polyester blanket made in China. Exclusively for Walmart. Thank god for the little blue pill cause I'm finding that although the obsessive thoughts still enter my head, they're not paralyzing. And maybe I can even chuckle at myself. The weight of the world doesn't crush me anymore. So food miles, Mexican farm workers, Chinese sweatshop workers who can live in a cement house instead of subsistence farming around a house made of sticks, fresh veggies packaged in plastic, and Walmart in general, no longer put me over the edge. Yay!!

And I happened to find my favorite brand of canned tart cherries no high fructose corn syrup or even sugar, so I can make my favorite Martha Stewart Cherry Pie. With Ben & Jerry's Cherry Garcia on top. Yum. And although I would love to have angel biscuits and their angelic creator to join us for dinner, alas I will have to make due with Bisquick.
Bisquick biscuits bring back yummy childhood memories.

I couldn't buy local inside Walmart, but I was able to step outside Walmart and take in a lovely view of our local mountains. And lucky for me and my dinner menu, I was able to procure local organic chicken at the health food store.

Chicken n Biscuits

Brussel sprouts
No???
more for me
hee hee

I sure do like pie

Anyway. The kids better eat this dinner. And they better like it too. Cause I have like 3 days of blogstuffs to catch up on. And I'm cooking instead of reading but obviously I am writing ha ha. So the Suzy Martha moment better be appreciated.

After this All American dinner, this All American Girl is gonna work on a post I promised my sister Adrienne. A post about how Obama=O.J. as in Simpson.

Just sayin'

  1. Funny. You are funny.
I think I might need some little blue pill - no wait, I want Walmart to send me over the edge.
I have only been there three times in three years. No bad, considering.
Bravo for organic chicken and local mountains.

    Did they like the dinner?

  3. Fuck it. They'd better like pie. Cause the two brown boys in my house gave two thumbs down on cherry pie. Go figure. I'm done. Back to chicken nuggets. I can heat them up in the microwave and still wear my William-Sonoma apron. hmmpf

  4. I would have eaten EVERYTHING! Even brussels sprouts and I do not like them. Those look delicious. And I would have taken that cherry pie and hidden in the closet with it and when you found me, sitting on the floor with cherries all over my face I would have looked up at you and said, "What?!"

  5. I had brussel sprouts and edamame saute last night for dinner while the kids ate the meatball hoagies I made.

  7. You were being an amazing homemaker. Baking always gives you a million extra points.

And isn't Ms. Moon funny? I can just see her sitting in that closet.

  8. Your brain seems to work a lot like mine. Maybe that's why we both take little blue pills.

  9. What kind of children are you raising, that don't like cherry pie?! Looks YUMMY to me! So does the chicken and biscuits. The brussel sprouts, not so much. :)

Your fairy is called Columbine Icedancer
She is a bone chilling bringer of justice for the vulnerable.
She lives in mushroom fields and quiet meadows.
She is only seen when the bees swarm and the crickets chirrup.
She wears lilac and purple like columbine flowers. She has icy blue butterfly wings.
