Home alone

I'm home alone
listening to the sound... of silence

What?? What you say??
Where are the kids??
Kids?? They're sleeping at J's house tonight.
Got home from work, and I find out they've planned a sleepover. At her house.
My three & her one. She's so brave
Are you sure, J?? Are you sure you're sure??
all righty then...

Well...
I can't remember the last time I was by myself anywhere for 12 hours. Totally alone. I wasn't even alone nights in the hospital after giving birth. I had just given birth. I had a newborn. I was breast feeding. I never let that breast feeding newborn out of my sight. So not alone.

I think the last time I was alone was April of 1993. I was living by myself in the 'burbs and B was living in Brooklyn. In May we moved in together. 16 months later we were married. We may have spent a handful of nights apart, but they were few and far between. 3 years later the babies started to come. And the rest, as they say, is history.

So, what to do with an entire Saturday night to myself? This rare opportunity is not to be squandered. Who knows when it may arise again.

Go out with friends? See a movie?
Find some romance?

Oh yes!!!
Yes Yes Yes!!!
Oh baby...
It's been soooo long
I can't remember the last time...
mmm... sooo good
the lemony smell
wiping away the stickiness
oooh... the gleam

Whew... now I'm all spent and sweaty
hair curly and damp and falling in my face

after, in bed with Lost reruns and Weaver hot wings
such a release
such satisfaction
mmmm.... gonna hafta do that more often

  1. Ha! Exactly! I was doing the exact same thing as you! That's how I celebrate finishing the bar exam. And as I was reading I was thinking that, "Man, what would I do without alone time to clean?"

Unfortunately I was too rambunctious in my cleaning and pulled something in my back. How? Moving furniture, twisting to reach every single surface on my hands and knees ... so after only one room I'm benched.

But I was so there with you last night! Glad you enjoyed!

  2. Dude, isn't that some shit! I know, though. I know. Would you have believed it is someone had told you back in 1993 that this is how you would spend a Saturday night in 2009? AND be utterly satisfied, even elated at that fact?

    Craziness!

  4. You are hilarious! It's funny because when my husband gets some "free" time he uses it to watch a movie, when I get free time all I want to do is make things clean.

  5. Wow, no way I would have cleaned on a night alone - a night away.
Honestly, I probably would have gone to bed at 6:30 and skipped dinner. I never get enough sleep.
So sleep, clean, it's kind of the same thing, except for the sweating thing.

  6. I am the oldest of five kids, had two roomates in college and four kids. So I'm not used to be alone at all.

After my divorce and then meeting Jeremiah I was alone for the first time while the girls were at their dad's, Jeremiah was at work and I was on bed rest with Elijah.

I watched so much T.V. it was insane. INSANE! I like not being alone much better.

  8. Loved Windy Days' comment! I like being alone because I can read blogs without guilt, heehee. Not alone this week, though, as Mr.4444 is on mandatory, unpaid "furlough." I should be cleaning....

  10. Hilarious! I got home to an empty house about an hour ago and spent 40 minutes cleaning. I love when the house is shiny and clean, too.

    Hope you enjoyed your break!

Your fairy is called Columbine Icedancer
She is a bone chilling bringer of justice for the vulnerable.
She lives in mushroom fields and quiet meadows.
She is only seen when the bees swarm and the crickets chirrup.
She wears lilac and purple like columbine flowers. She has icy blue butterfly wings.
