how do i love thee, IRS, let me count the ways....

9:07 A.M. PLEASE HOLD FOR THE NEXT AVAILABLE AGENT TO ANSWER YOUR CALL

Have I told you I HATE the IRS? I believe I have. Talk about bureaucracy. Talk about the right hand not knowing what the left hand is doing. And there IS such a thing as an honest mistake. And when we make an honest mistake, we say ok fair is fair. And we pay the owed taxes 6 months ago and the penalty for making and honest mistake 2 months ago and then on Friday we get a COMPLETELY different form with COMPLETELY different numbers and no acknowledgement of the check dated 11/23 that was cashed. By the IRS.

Did I say I HATE them?

9:14 A.M. OUR REPRESENTATIVES ARE STILL ASSISTING OTHER CUSTOMERS. PLEASE HOLD

Well. At least I'll get this taken care of. maybe. hopefully. And as I sit here on hold I can blog. Which I haven't done in a while thanks to a massive sinus infection that makes me feel like my right eye is going to explode out of my head every time I bend over to wash my face or check some baby ears. It also causes me to cough on newborns. uggh

9:16 A.M. RING... MS. THOMPSON BADGE # BLAH BLAH BLAH

Nice IRS lady: No, we have no record of the November payment. But if you can send us a copy of the check, front and back, we can track it and amend your account. Would you like to make a payment now so your account doesn't get flagged?

Irate taxpayer: But we already paid everything. What do I have to pay now?

Nice IRS Lady: Well, until we can verify that this payment has been made, you're still accruing interest.

Irate taxpayer: ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME? WE'RE ACCRUING INTEREST ON OUR MONEY THAT YOU HAVE?
i didn't say that out loud.

Thankfully, Ms. Thompson was oh so helpful and decided to check under MY social security number.

And VOILA

1079.00

Even though I clearly wrote Bruce's ss# in the check memo. She said well... it was YOUR check. It had YOUR name on it. Seriously??? But she said it very nicely and apologized and is now amending our account.

9:27 Ms. Thompson says she's transferred the money and it's all taken care of but we still owe 41.68 in interest.
Don't ask me.
I'm just glad it's not another 7,212.00

I guess I can thank the IRS begrudgingly for giving me blog fodder and forcing me to sit my ass down and remain on hold. In front of the computer. Cause I haven't been here in a while.

This sinus thing knocked me on my ass. And I hate antibiotics almost as much as the IRS.

Snow day tomorrow. 12 inches forecast. Yippee. See you then.

  2. We don't have snow AT.ALL. and I hate it. I want snow. It snows two inches and melts, or RAINS. And thankfully I haven't had very many dealing with the IRS-I think I would be unable to remain as calm as you have.

I hope you feel better soon.

  5. Misery loves company because I just got over a sinus infection....My left eye felt like it had pins and needles poking all over the place every time I sneezed it felt like my eye was going to pop out of my head.......it was some serious pain. I just took lots and lots of Motrin and Tylenol.........Never made it to the doctor. AND, I was blowing out some super slimy greenish/yellowish stuff from my nose on the side it hurt. . . .It was totally gross!

Glad to hear from you.....missed you girl!
